Kawasaki Frontale snap Reds' home streak

22 Apr 2007 Daily Yomiuri
One of the most impressive streaks in J.League history came to an end on Saturday afternoon.
Kawasaki Frontale snapped Urawa Reds' 25-game, league winning streak at home, beating the champions 2-1 for their first-ever league victory over the Saitama club.
"A record is just statistics," said Osieck, whose team must now regroup for Wednesday's AFC Champions League match at Shanghai Shenhua. "We may have lost today, but I don't think that makes us at all a weak home team.
"After we went down, we showed a lot of determination to turn the game around. I think we played well enough for the result to have gone either way in the end."
Reds had not lost a J1 contest at home since September 2005, and they came out determined to keep it that way. Coming off a National Stadium win over Kashiwa Reysol that saw them return to the top of the table last weekend, there was every reason to believe Osieck's men would get the job done once again, despite the absence of injured defensive marshal Marcus Tulio Tanaka.

"They are what we were in three years ago", said a Urawa Reds supporter looking at Frontale supporters delight. This was the first time for Frontale to win over Urawa in league match. But, defending the championship is another first experience for Urawa. Reds' way to the authentic champion club has just begun.
