Gamba Osaka won the J.League YAMAZAKI NABISCO Cup
|
"Give Osaka the cup!"
Beloved Cookie, Beloved Cup
|
Gamba Osaka won the cup beating Kawasaki Frontale by 1-0 in National Stadium
Tokyo. Two attractive clubs met in the final and performed very solidly.
I didn't go there, but the good atmosphere came through the TV throughout the match.
As this competition is the league cup and used to be regarded as the
one next to the league title and the emperor's cup, thanks to the
cousecutive sponsorship of Yamazaki Nabisco Co Ltd, it became very
beloved cup in Japan. The company has been supporting the cup since
its inception in 1992 and helped to award 100,000,000 JPY (=0.9M USD)
to the winners. In addition, Urawa went to the final in 02, 03, 04
and ticket competition occured, the status of this cup final became
higher. Japan soccer fans must thank Yamazaki Nabisco for the cup support
and sample cookies feeding in the stadium!
