Nakayama says good-bye to Iwata Stadium

National striker, the icon of Jubilo Iwata, Nakayama Masashi played final home match in Iwata, 28 November. 42 years-old striker rushed into the pitch after 37 minutes of the second half. He shot from his high header and finished his final play in his home stadium. The match ended with the score of 0-1 and Hiroshima broght three points to their home.

The striker joined YAMAHA in 1990 and since YAMAHA joined J.League as Jubilo Iwata, he played for Jubilo. He scored 157 goals in J1, completed hat-trick in four successive games of J.League in 1998, but he is not remembered as his records but from his goal spirits.

Jubilo Iwata has already announced that the club won't make new contract with Nakayama in season 2010. After the match, Nakayama said to supportes "I want run more". He will find new club and continues running.


On the same day, leader Kashima beat third place Gamba Osaka 5-1 and the championship is limited to Kashima and Kawasaki. The final day of 2009 J.League will be on 5th December.
