New Year Greetings from Tokyo

Just promoted FC Tokyo won the emperor's cup beating the second division final in Tokyo. FC Tokyo is the first club J2 club to win this cup. Following the 2011 promoted League Champion Kashiwa Reysol, this final illustrates the high level of our second division league. FC Tokyo will particopate to AFC Champions League 2012.

One Night Show in Yokohama

No need to report the result of the FCWC Final. I would say, more than 5,000 Brazilian supporters (who came from Brazil?) joined together in Yokohama. The scene reminded me of the final of the 2002 World Cup in the same venue. They produced the beautiful circumstance and tons of garbage in front of the stadium. The team could not play their way, because more skilled players played more devotedly for their team. The young talent could not shine.

Kashiwa Reysol; J.League Dream Goes On

Kashiwa Reysol beat Monterrey from Mexico in penalty shoot out. At first, Monterrey's skills and tactics are superior than Kashiwa's, but after Kashiwa players adjust to the Monterrey's how they play, they took back their standard play in 2001 J.League and in the second half and the extra time, Kashiwa controled the match. The result seems to be an upset, it is proper for Kashiwa.
Nobody thoght 2011 promoted Kashiwa would win the league, the dream still goes on for Kashiwa. It is the very big victory for those who love Japanese football.

On the same day, Asian champions Al Saad won against Esperance from Tunisa to qualify to the semifinal. Semifinals will be as follows.

Urawa Reds' Relief in Fukuoka

Before and After

Urawa Reds reached 36 to confirm J1 stay practically. I was one of 5,000 Reds supporters who travelled over 1,000 kilometers flight. When Fukuoka scored first, many thoght of the final life-or-death match against the leader Kashiwa.
1-2 victory relieved Reds, with Fukuoka and Yamagata already down, Kofu sit third from bottom in the final relegation spot, three points and 14 goals shy of Urawa.

Tradition Again. Kashima Antlers won the League Cup over Urawa Reds

Kashima Antlers 1 Extra Time 0 Urawa Reds. 29 October, 2011
Kokuritsu (National Stadium) Tokyo

Relegation threatened Urawa came back to the scene. Urawa goes down to the bottom three two weeks ago, club fired coach Petrovic. They won the dramatic Yokohama match and escaped from the relegation zone temporary one week ago, they came back to the final in the National Stadium Tokyo.

The match was exciting. Both player were sent off in the second half. Urawa concentrated on the ball but in the extra time Kashima scored and won the cup.

Urawa is happy to be back in this traditional match. Kashima won their five-years-in-a-row title with coach Oswaldo Oliveira.

2007 Asian Champion is being killed by the worst club managemnt

2007 ACL Champion Urawa Reds is suffering J2 relegation. The loss on Saturday in Saitama derby match, let Omiya six points advance and the victory of Kofu let Urawa be in the relegation zone.

Urawa is known with the largest supporters along with the poorest club management, this year the poorer management outstripped the resource Urawa has had. Although manager Zeriko Petrovic has proved his very poor ability in tactics and team control earlyer in this season, the club won't fire him. Yesterday, confused manager announced his retirement plan in front of the media, but today the club president is said to request him to stay. (Petrovic announced "I've decided that I won't remain with the club next season" and club's misterious answer says that the club will support resigning manaer.)

Where does the irresponsible club bring Urawa Reds?

Urawa Reds in Yamazaki Nabisco Cup Final

Urawa Reds will survive with this guy. Umesaki Tsukasa
Urawa 2. Gamba Osaka 1. Yamazaki Nabisco Cup Semifinal

Urawa Reds beat the league leader Gamba Osaka to qualify to the league cup final on 29th October in National Stadium Tokyo. The victry is precious for fans who kept supporting Reds. Because, in season 2006 Urawa completed both the league and the cup title just in front of Gamba in succession. After that Urawa stopped winning against Gamba and this is the first victory over Gamba for 12 league and cup matches since that days. But, the most important fruit from the match is the rebirth of the striker Umesaki Tsukasa by his one goal and one assist to beat Urawa's rival. As he joined to Urawa in 2008 but he threw last two seasons from serious injuries. This beloved guy takes the team to the cup final and encourages relegation-threatened team. Urawa will win and survice with the name - Umesaki Tsukasa.

Japan 1. Vietman 0. Friendly in Kobe

Japan won the International A match, friendly against Vietnam in Kobe.

Zaccheroni tested the pending system 3-4-3 to prepare the option of the team, but it did not work out again for this match.
Vietnamese players worked hard and impressed Japanese audiences. In my knowledge, no Vietnam players have played in J.League before. They have discipline and staying power with enough speed. The team includes their first player played in Portugal TV announces, how about inviting Vietnamese to play in Japan.

Japan Women confirmed 1st or 2nd place of the Asian qualofying round leaving the final match against China. As Japan allow one point to DPR Korea in the last minutes in the day match, China was beaten by Australia in the evening that lead the result. DPR Korea, Australia and China have chance to win the Asian second ticket.

As this tournament is held as the single-round-robin of five teams in Jinan City, China. Nadeshiko Japan faild to prepare the perfect condition to play "five matches in 11 days" because of the post World Cup Feter. They could not show thier top form but played doggedly.

This crash program brought unexpected benefit for Japan. The World Cup victory brought new fans of soccer. Every two days' matches attracted Japanese new fans that lead about 30% of TV rating. London Olympic game will be played from 27 July to 12 August, 2012. We are happy to see Sawa's play in London!! Congratuations "Nadeshiko Japan".

95 minutes of drama. Japan 1-0 DPR Korea

Japan won their first qualifier for Brazil 2014 in Saitama Stadium. They created many chances but the North Korean defence was organized not to let Japan goal. In the last minutes of the second half additional time, defender Yoshida's headder broke the brave visitor. Zaccheroni's boys kept posession based football with their philosophy. Mon of the match should go to captain Hasebe because his proper choice of dribbling, feeds, and early crosses knocked the North Korean organization.

J.League played the cancelled 2nd week match postponed from 12th/13th March. They shuold have been the opening matches for half of clubs' home towns, but the matches were cancelled due to the earthquake occurred on 11th March.

The match Urawa Reds vs Gamba Osaka is really exciting. Still being off form Urawa played aggressive against offensive Gamba. The match ended 1-1 draw with two young guns Usami Takashi (being transffered to Bayern Munchen) and Haraguchi Genki (photo) scored. Althogh JFA cancelled the invitatin of Copa America, the league must be hot like today.

We really appreciate your support for the Cup, Yamazaki-Nabisco

The re-schedule of the football calendar Japan due to the earthquake on 11 March, Yamazaki-Nabisco Co., Ltd. agreed to shorten but continues to support their sponcered cup this year. They gave up the group league round to form the tournament from the begenning. New regulation is that they play home-and-away match for the 1st and the 2nd round, and single match for the quarter/semi-finals and the final.

Today, 5th June, is the opening for the 2011 Yamazaki Nabisco Cup. Yes, I went to the stadium to enjoy the cup match. Thank you very much, Yamazaki-Nabisco!

2011 J.League Reopening Match

Two months without football in spring. Can you imagine?

J.League resumed the match on this weekend. As the earthquake occurred on 3.11 just a day before the 2nd league matchday. From 2nd to 6th schedules are postponed to July.

Since the team played away for the first match, this is the first match for most supporters of Urawa Reds. We thank and pray for every thing behind the pitch.

What happened on the pitch was some magic of football, Urawa beat defending champions by 3-0. Yesterday, the magic came to the disaster area club Sendai. They upset the match in the last three minutes. I will go to Sendai with Urawa Reds on the coming Weekend.

Legendary Kazu scored a precious goal for us!

The match is played for Japan. The charity from internationals vs local stars is brought from Osaka. Best players came back from Europe while J.League selected domestic stars including Kazu. The legendary 44-years-old striker scored in the second half just after rushing into the space in front of the GK. Yes, he has. We found that he must be on the stage and we must be back our won stages.

Japan 2-1 J.League "team as one" Nagai, Osaka - 29 March 2011

This match is organized after the Japan earth quake. The international "A" match against New Zealnd was planned in Tokyo but the match was cancelled. This charity match is the first big sports event after the quake in Japan. Thank you football family.

At 27th March, more than 27,000 people are killed or lost, 240,000 are in evacuation area. Fukushima nuclear plant is still in serious situation. The electric power supply is weak in wider Tokyo. But we are living and working today. Thank you for your help and messages. I am afraid that international media report Japanese situation too serious. At least in Tokyo, we are doing fine. If you see this page, please tell your friend, we are fine in Tokyo.

Japan Earthquake (Release #2)

The magnitude 9.0 - republication

This is 23.30 PM, 13 March JST. Two days after the earthquake. Tsunami is almost over but many minor quakes continue. Entire damage has not been figured out but more than 10,000 people are lost and many towns are lost after the tide. Disaster areas are Iwate Prefecture, Miyagi Prefecture, Fukushima Prefecture, and some nearby cities. People began working bravely together to recover from the damage in the areas.

Nuclear Power Plant

Fukushima nuclear plant has been stopped and some explosion occurred. The situation is still serious and some radioactive materials went out of the plant. But the plant is under control and the core system has been not crashed. Information from the government. http://www.nisa.meti.go.jp/english/index.html

Tokyo

Tokyo is not damaged and the city function is recovering. Most railways worked today. The most concern is the electric power supply that the government allowed TEPCO rolling blackouts including Tokyo (the power is cut off for three hours twice a day for each area).

Football

J.League matches are cancelled on 12th and 13th. Holding next match, Cup on Wednesday and league on weekend, is not yet determined. (I'm afraid that the power is cut off that means night match is impossible)

We all know the help and messages from many, many countries. We thank you all.

Japan Earthquake / League is Cancelled

We had massive earthquake in north Japan 11th March at 14:46 JST. The earthquake center is located at off the east coast of northern Japan. The magnitude is 8.8, the biggest in Japan ever. Hundreds of people are killed, it is reported. But the extent of the damage has yet to be determined. Big tsunami hit the coast and some colony has been missing. Big fire is occurred in several places.
I am in Tokyo and the quake is huger than ever I have experienced. In Tokyo, every railway stopped and tons of people are foced to walk back home. Few killed in Tokyo but the damage here is not so serious than north district.
J.League announced that they cancel every league matches on this weekend. Home towns of clubs Vegalta Sendai, Kashima Antetlers, and Mito can be suffered directly.
The disaster area is much wider than ever we have experienced. It is midnight in Japan. Tomorrow must be the better day.

Japan beat Korea to reach final

Japan 2-2 Korea (3 PK 0). 25 Jan 2011, Asian Cup Qatar 2011

The first goal from Japan illustrates the current potential of Japanese football. Honda keeps pulling three Korean defenders to run Nagatomo into the space behind Korean right back, Nagatomo's grounder crosses to the space where the striker Maeda is watching, then Maeda rushes into the front of the defender to finish. Japan will play against Australia on Saturday.

Japan escaped from the defeat to Jordan

Japan 1 - 1 Jordan. AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011

Late goal from defender Yoshida helped Japan to draw with Jordan.
Japan controlled almost 90 minutes of the match. But in the end of 1st half, Jordan shot scored unfortunately for Japan. Japan changed two attackers in the early second half and pushed from the center area. In the extra time, Hasebe's cross was hit by high Yoshida's header and won one point from the first match.
It was interesting that Endo and Hasebe's midfield created many chances, Kagawa and Matsui breaks several times, but Maeda along with Honda's top could not utilize these chances. In the second half, Lee replaced by Maeda could not finish. The result is not enough but they repeatedly challenged and had ideas. The interest for Zaccheroni's team is still growing.
Jordan is rather fair and technical that made this match interesting. Arabian football is deep.
